NorthPac Forest Licence Inc. Forest Stewardship Plan – 5 year Extension
A Forest Stewardship Plan (FSP) extension is being prepared for the areas managed under Forest Licence (FL) A16831, held by NorthPac Forest Licence Inc. within the Kispiox Timber Supply Area, located within the Skeena-Stikine Natural Resource District. The area is generally described as encompassing portions of the Cranberry, Kispiox, Skeena, Babine and Gitsegukla watersheds. Included within the FSP area are the towns and villages of Cedarvale, Kitwanga, Hazelton, Kispiox, New Hazelton, Seely Lake and Suskwa Development.
The current FSP expires on January 13, 2024. The FSP describes Forest Development Units (FDUs) and the results and strategies applied to these FDUs to ensure consistency with legal objectives for critical resource values. An extension, rather than a replacement, is proposed due to the number of changes anticipated in the short-tern (1-2 years) and the potential for significant changes, which will initiate a replacement plan in the mid-term (3-5 years). The objectives are described in the Forest and Range Practices Act and its associated regulations and are informed by several plans including:
the Kispiox Land and Resource Management Plan,
the Xsu gwin lik’l’inswx: West Babine Sustainable Resource Management Plan
the Cranberry Sustainable Resource Management Plan
Gitwangak Land Use Plan
Gitanyow Lax'yip Land Use
The extended term of the FSP is proposed to expire January 13, 2029.
